Retail Meat Industry Training Organisation
DESCRIPTION: The RMITO works with the retail meat industry in designing training programmes to provide butchers with the necessary skills required by the trade.
We aim to provide appropriate qualifications that recognise the skills used by butchers, and to ensure that these meet the needs of industry.
The RMITO provides the following functions:
•Arranges and administers off job training and provides help to apprentices and employers to compliment the skills and knowledge obtained on the job;
•Purchases off job training from the Polytechnics;
•Designs training programmes for the retail meat industry;
•Monitors and implements unit standards that are appropriate and meet the needs of industry;
•Provides information and advice to apprentices and employers alike;
•and Maintains records of all apprentice butchers and their progress.
