Health & Safety tips for restaurant & tavern owners
Date: 5 Jan 2012
Restaurants and Taverns present a fun and entertaining venue for patrons, but behind the scenes, much care and diligence must be undertaken to ensure that both workers and patrons remain healthy and safe. Recognising this, Business owners across New Zealand will be receiving the 2012 edition of Pro-Visual Publishing’s Restaurant & Tavern Industry Guide to Safety at no cost.
With information provided by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the guide is split into two convenient sections. Section A provides recipients with a vast array of helpful topics on proper food hygiene, including but not limited to sanitising, defrosting waste management, temperature control and even allergens.
Section B focuses more on personal safety. In addition to a detailed but easy-to-follow section on manual handling, this section of the guide addresses the important but often ignored topic of preventing and dealing with armed hold-ups, providing a step-by-step rundown on what to do with a strong emphasis on harm minimisation in the unlikely event of a robbery and additionally, provides tips on how to avoid one altogether.

“It is through this guide that Pro-Visual Publishing hopes to equip Restaurant and Tavern owners with the information they need to help maintain a safe, hygienic and happy working environment. I would like to thank all of the sponsors for their support of the Restaurant & Tavern Industry Guide to Safety, who have made it possible for it to be distributed at no cost to recipients throughout New Zealand”, said John Hutchings, CEO, Pro-Visual Publishing.
Recipients of the guide are also provided with the opportunity to enter a competition in which the best entry wins a $5000(AU) dollar holiday voucher! (See terms and conditions). Additional copies are available upon request.
