Oct 03: The New Zealand Dietetic Association is the national professional
body of the
dietetic profession, currently
representing over 450 dietitians and associated professionals practising
in related areas of nutritional care, health and disease throughout New
Zealand. The association includes special interest groups for diabetes,
paediatrics and gastroenterology. Corporate membership is also possible,
for companies that support the NZDA in its objectives.
The
NZDA site incorporates a Find A Dietitian searchable database. Registered
dietitians are able to advise on topics including nutrition advice,
weight loss and gain and special medical needs such as diabetes, heart
disease, gastro-intestinal disorders and pregnancy. There is also a
Media centre, carrying various releases from the Assn on subjects such
as healthy eating, nutrition labelling, childhood obesity, the food
pyramid, food safety and so on. Under Publications, you will find a
set of useful position papers on a similar range of subjects. There
is a good set of links to other nutrition and health-related sites,
a section on becoming a dietitian, and a jobs board.
