DESCRIPTION: BrewNZ is
the official New Zealand beer event, a week long celebration
of beer and brewing held
in Wellington in late August, endorsed by the Brewers Guild
of New Zealand, and incorporating the BrewNZ Beer Awards and
Beervana. BrewNZ
Beer Awards is an international beer competition featuring
entries from over 60 breweries. Local and international beers
will be judged over three days by a panel of experts led by US
based judge David Logsdon. The competition culminates in an awards
evening. Beervana 2009 is a sampling
event for the public, featuring New Zealand brewers and (in 2009)
well known celebrity chef Martin Bosley. Held
at the Wellington Town Hall, this event is intended to educate
guests on beer styles and the art of beer and food matching,
and offers the opportunity to meet brewers.

DESCRIPTION: The
Cheese Web, home of The British Cheese Awards, and of one of the world's
leading authorities on cheese, Juliet Harbutt.
Originally
from New Zealand, Juliet is UK-based, but still has a strong involvement
in the NZ industry as a writer, educator, and consultant in marketing,
merchandising, product development and training. She was the driving
force behind The New Zealand Cheese Awards, before it was replaced
by the New Zealand Champions of Cheese in 2004.

Zealand’s best artisan food and beverage producers who are defining the
country’s flourishing food and farmers’ market culture — creating
top-notch locally produced fare. An artisan producer is essentially a craftsperson
who applies their skills to making handmade or individually crafted products,

DESCRIPTION: The purpose of these Awards is to honour technical excellence in
the manufacture of NZ Cheese. Ultimately, there is a broader objective to drive
consumption of NZ specialist cheeses by raising awareness, encouraging trial
and promoting usage of NZ cheeses.
The Cuisine Champions of Cheese Awards are run by the NZ cheese industry for
the NZ cheese industry. The entire event is managed and promoted by an independent
company and assisted administratively by the secretary of the New Zealand Specialist
Cheesemakers Association Inc (NZSCA) Inc. The Awards are judged independently
by an expert team of NZ judges and an international Master of Cheese to ensure
professionalism, expert knowledge and credibility.
