SOTW
Aug 02: Wine Marlborough is a joint venture initiative of the Marlborough
Grapegrowers and Marlborough Winemakers, set up to promote the Marlborough
region as a premium cool climate grape-growing and wine-making region.
It is the organisation behind the annual BMW Wine Marlborough Festival,
the most famous and successful of all the regional food & wine festivals
in this country, held on the second Saturday of February each year. Coming
soon is the second Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc Celebration, September
2-5, a combination yatch race and vintage launch. Wine Marlborough represents
225 growers and 65 wineries (the region accounted for 52% of New Zealand's
total wine production last year).
This
is a beautiful-looking site, as it should be, in representing the region
that put NZ wines (particularly sauvignon blanc) on the map. Graphics
are very classy and subtle. It incorporates a directory of Marlborough
wineries (including high-profile labels such as Allan Scott, Cloudy Bay,
Forrest, Grove Mill, Hunters, Le Brun, Montana, Vavasour and many more),
press releases, events calendar, wine trail map, news and vintage report.
